Forthcoming events:Moray Winter Challenge (Dec)This year's 5k Winter Challenge takes place in Keith at 11.30am on Sun 5 Dec. 3k Series in Cooper Park (June - Sept)This year's evening 3k Series races in Cooper Park kick off at 7pm on Wed 29th July, with £2 entry fee registration at Elgin Library from 6pm onwards. The second 3k is on Wed 19th Aug, and the third is on Wed 23rd Sept, with all proceeds to Sport Moray. Results below. Moray Summer Challenge (June)The next 5k Summer Challenge will take place at 11.00am on Sun 12 June 2011 starting and finishing at Cooper Park, Elgin. The fairly flat route along the banks of the Lossie River includes running past the historic ruins of the Cathedral. A junior event 1.5k will also take place.

The second 3k is on Wed 4th Aug, and the third is on Wed 18rd Aug, with all proceeds to Sport Moray. Run report to follow. 2010 Moray Summer Challenge (Jun)Around 140 people took part in the 4th Moray 5k, despite drizzly conditions, with several hundreds of pounds being raised towards the Pinto Sports Fund. First across the line for the second year running was David Langan from Lossiemouth (19.10), with Rebecca Taylor from Buckie (20.40) taking the 1st female shield. MRR junior members Lewis Sim and Dionne Milne took the first spots in the shorter 1.5k event. The summer challenge was a big day for many participants from across Moray, with more than 20 taking part in the distance for the first time. The event also marked the first collection of old trainers to recycle to Ethiopian athletes
2009 Moray Winter Challenge (Dec)JS Fochabers hosted his year's 5k Winter Challenge which took place within the beautiful grounds of the privately-owned Gordon Castle Estate. The event was a big success with a wide range of walkers, joggers and runners all participating. David Langan, winner of the summer 5k (see below) was again first across the line in an improved time of 18.41, with Moray Road Runner Sarah Houston taking the first lady prize. Buckie scooped the JS prizes with Scot Reid and Wendy Christie coming first respectively. Medals and prizes were also given to walkers, fancy dressers, and those who completed the distance for the first time. Proceeds of the event go to Children's 1st. (click here for results)

First race results - adults and juniors Second race results - adults and juniors Third race results - adults and juniors 'Still Running' Dufftown Jogscotland 5k fun run (Aug)'Still Running' Dufftown Jog Scotland held a 5K Fun Run last Saturday (15th August) to celebrate the group's First Anniversary. With the weather holding fair after a showery start it was a delighted Group Jog Leader Audrey Benvie who welcomed 68 entrants in The British Legion Hall. The participants who walked, jogged or ran in the beautiful surrounding countryside in this enjoyable and at times challenging course. First Male past the line Frankie Barton from Keith and District in a time of 18.08 seconds and first female Moraig Lyall of Forres Harriers in a time of 22.25 seconds. For more pictures of the 5k fun run go to Dufftown Jogscotland information page in the 'Local Jog Groups' section.2009 Summer Challenge (June)The third Moray 5k event saw around 135 people walk, jog, or run around the beautiful banks of the Lossie River in central Elgin using a new, more user-friendly route that ran past the historic Cathedral. First across the line, in an impressive time of 18.50 was David Langan from Lossiemouth, with first lady, Jenny Bannerman from Inverness not far behind in 19.39. First junior around the shorter 1.5k Cooper Park circuit was Blair Little of MRR with a commanding win, followed by first girl Dionne Milne. The event raised around £400 for the Aberlour Childcare Trust. (Click here for full results).
The 10th Marafun: (June 2009)
Elgin Rotary's 10th Bell's Marafun was a city centre relay marathon with 110 teams of 5 runners completing the 26 miles. There was also a primary schools race and lots of stalls and entertainment in the city centre. A team of ex-Aberdeen University students broke the 1991 record time by almost 3 minutes, whilst Keith and District AAC Ladies took first place in the female category (See K&D AAC information page). Also taking place were Jog Scotland teams from Aberlour, Buckie, Dufftown, Elgin, Fochabers, Forres, and Keith (see Local Jog Groups pages).
