17 June 2011 - Warehouse Lossie Social event

We are holding a social event on the 17 June 2011 in the Warehouse Theatre in Lossie. Some drinks and some nibbles. Please let one of the leaders know if you want to come along - the more the merrier!!

26 May 2011

Our new beginners block begins once again next Thurs 26 May 2011. Come along and have ago. Our cost is now £5 per 10 week block.

6th January 2011

We are back to normal after all the bad weather and festivities.

New beginners 10-week block started with nine keen individuals coming along some of whom had already done a bit of jogging. Anyway all seemed very enthusiastic. We are now charging £5 for the 10 weeks and this will help towards events, support for training leaders and any hire costs. We now have access to a small room in the Library where we can leave register for signing in and out and any clothing. Great to have so many new leaders and Eric has offered to produce a newsletter so watch this space!!!

9 Dec 2010

Just a reminder for everyone that there is no running on the 9 Dec as we will be having a meal out at Scribbles that evening. If you want to come along please give your name to one of the jogleaders with a £5.00 deposit too. The meal is booked for 6pm.

Sept 2010

Thanks to Brain Findlay from DM Hall for our sponsorship for our great new JS Elgin t-shirts - they looked great on everyone last Thurs!! Welcome to all our new members last Thurs (9 Sep 10) who turned up. We had lots of jog leaders to help which was great so hopefully everyone managed to find a group suitable.

RETURN TO LIBRARY FOYER - 2 SEP 10

Please note that the group now has returned to meeting in the library foyer as before. Please try to keep the noise minimal and ensure that library users have a clear passage way through the foyer. If the weather is fine register yourself and then congregate outside the main entrance. Many Thanks.

Aug 2010

CHANGE OF MEETING PLACE -TRIAL PERIOD 29 JUL/5 AUG 10

Please note that due to our numbers increasing and causing a slight disruption in the Library foyer, we will be trialling meeting in the Cricket club Pavillion just beside the boating pond for the next 2 weeks as dated above. As long as we don't interfere with the cricket club activities then we will continue to us this as our meeting place thereafter.

JOG LEADER COURSE

Please note that a Jog Leader course is now organised for the 24th of October in Nairn. We already have 5 willing volunteers, so if you fancy doing the course then leading a group then please let one of the current Jog Leaders know. It doesn't matter what standard you are. This would mean we would have more flexibility in offering more groupings than we currently have and allow for absences of Leaders.

July 2010

NEW BEGINNERS GROUP STARTS

Our next intake of complete beginners starts next Thurs 1 July 2010, so if you are keen to start from 1 min jog/1 min rest then please come along and join our ever growing numbers. Remember if you're jogging already and want to come along too then you're more than welcome to slot into one of our other groups.

Also next Thurs sees Barry the Baton arrive in the Lossiemouth area as part of the Coasting around Britain challenge (www.coastersgb.co.uk) and EAAC and JS Elgin have a 9 mile stretch to carry him along up to Garmouth. If anyone is interested in participating next week to complete part of the section which goes along East Beach in Lossie then please arrive a little bit earlier at the Library as usual and we will redeploy from there. Otherwise you can stay in Elgin and run as normal.

Hope you can all manage to stay on that night and help plan our summer programme.

March 2010

Lighter nights and better weather brought over 60 joggers along to our first session of the month. Great to see so many enthusiastic individuals who are keen to improve their level of fitness in a friendly social environment. Beginners, Intermediate & Intermediate Plus groups available.

February 2010

Well done and welcome to all our  24 new members who turned up last Thurs 11 Feb 10 for our second complete beginners group since our formation. There were lots of worried looking faces at the start but everyone was smiling at the end so hopefully you will all return next week! Photographic evidence to follow....

 January 2010

Well welcome back everyone - finally after all the snow and ice!!!  A few brave souls did venture out last week (14 Jan 10) with the beginners group skating their way over to the exotic location of St Giles car park to continue their programme, while the intermediate group jumped in cars and went to Lossie for a lap around the village. Anyway, hopefully we can get back into full swing as the days get lighter and hopefully the weather will improve.

Things to note for the New Year are;

  • As of the 11 Feb 2010, there will be a new complete beginners 10 week block starting, so you will now have the choice of 3 ability groups depending on how you're feeling on the night.
  • Following a jogleader meeting, we decided that as of the 11 Feb 10 there will now be a charge of £2.00 per 10 week block (regardless of when you start within that period) The funds will be used purely to supplement group events and buy equipment etc.
  • As you can guess if you are reading this - we can now access our website and edit it so any messages e.g. cancellation due to sever weather etc will be posted here.
  • Dates to note for your diary - Moray 5K challenge has been set as Sun 13 Jun 10 at 11:30 am in Cooper Park and Sport relief runs on Sunday the 21 March 10 (1, 3 or 6 miles to choose from).

Good to see 22 of you back on Thurs 21st - we meant to get a piccie of us all, camera all prepared but the battery was flat!!
